At HG Service & Support, we have a reputation for supporting many of the UK's best known organisations and glass container manufacture is no exception. We understand that you can't just stop the furnace. We understand that production matters and that time is important when it comes to solving your production issues. Our experienced engineers regularly work in hot and cold end environments and will recognise the site pressures and requirements.
Processes
Our engineers have not only worked on the complete design and installation of major control systems in a large glassworks in the UK, they also support the operation and maintenance of the plant from the furnace to the warehouse. The control systems involoved span the entire plant starting with the furnaces which melt the cullet, sand, soda ash and limestone. The forehearth area is also under control system support, molten glass from the furnaces is distributed into various forehearths where the temperature is carefully controled to ensure product quality before the gobs are cut and routed into the moulds.
Once moulded, glass containers are annealed by carefully raising and slowly lowering the temperature in the lehr which has the effect of relieving stresses in the glass structure thus making the final product more durable and less prone to breakage, a scratch resistant coating is then applied to prevent damage to containers during the conveying processes and throughout the life of the container. After an automated inspection process, containers are palletised and wrapped before begin transferred to the warehouse for storage.
